The Susan Spiritus gallery was one of the earliest photography galleries to open (1976) specializing exclusively in fine art contemporary photography. The gallery has concentrated on representing mid-career and emerging photographic artists and has for the first twenty years, mounted one person exhibitions of artist’s works, sponsored symposiums on photography, published three portfolios, including “WESTCOASTNOW”, a group portfolio of 12 west coast photographer’s works; “Dioramas”, the work of Jacqueline Thurston and “Circus”, an artist’s travels with the Ringling Brothers & Barnum and Bailey Circus. Every summer Spiritus sponsored a fun group show titled, “8X10”, an acronym for eight works by ten (new) photographers.

After marking twenty years in the gallery business, Susan Spiritus changed the focus of her gallery and became a private dealer, no longer mounting one person exhibitions for her artists, but rather focusing on placing her artist’s works in the corporate environment.  The gallery is open daily and by appointment.
Susan Spiritus Gallery participates in the annual photography artfair, photola and has served as a reviewer for Review Santa Fe; Review LA; Photo NOLA, and photolucida.  She is also on the board of advisors for the Lucie Foundation.
