Miriam Leuchter leads the Josephine Herrick Project, a New York City-based nonprofit that helps underrepresented people build their creative voice through photography. She is also an independent editorial and photography consultant, journalist, and educator. The author of Take Your Best Shot: Essential Tips & Tricks for Shooting Amazing Photos(Weldon Owen, 2011), she is the former editor-in-chief of Popular Photography and American Photo, and in 2018 served as faculty-in-residence at the Photographic Center Northwest in Seattle. She has juried many international photography competitions, and her own work has been published and exhibited in magazines, newspapers, and art galleries in the United States and Europe.
