Children of the Zambian section of the remote Congo Basin system of rivers and lakes. A people series from the photographer’s ‘Amenshi’ (Water) exhibition in his ‘Spirit of the Land’ environment project (www.spirit-of-the-land.com) on the landscapes and peoples of remote Zambia. The project seeks to build awareness of the country’s largely unknown natural environment; how closely and directly its peoples depend on that environment for their day-to-day survival; and how the environment is affected by that dependence.
Children of some of the most remote areas of Africa, who live and depend so closely on the natural environment. Despite the adversity they face, they seem to show a resilience and self-assurance well beyond their years.
