Like many in the Tân Châu district of southern Việt Nam, she survives with the care of her two grandsons who make less than a dollar a day. Sadly, this is all I can tell you about Phinh’s life. Through her furrowed face looking deeply beyond the confinements of her home, I hope Phinh is able to communicate her life and emotions to you using a more universal form of communication: body language, far more descriptive than what words can say.
