This work was done for an Indian NGO that operate a special water securituy program in the Marwar region in Rajasthan. The program provides an enabling environment for desert communities and allow them access adeguate drinking water, within the constraints of environmental equilibrium by leveraging traditional knowledge with appropriate technology. Through a process of networking village institutions of collective wisdom are facilitated; local capacities for community mobilization are built to address there own needs. An integrated model for micro-level development has been created by addressing issues concerning literacy, health, hygiene, children’s education and women’s access to economic resources. This work wants to emphasize the importance of sustainability in the process of growth and developement of any communities. Knowledge and education play a key role to preserve cultural and natural heritage of native people.
