These images aim to explore the idea of the photograph as a document of truth and the influence of American culture. I went on a journey around england, 35mm camera in hand, country and western music as my soundtrack, trying to find little pockets of Americana. I have never been to America; my perception of it is taken from books, films and songs. I hoped that taking the subjects out of context would influence the viewer’s interpretation. These anonymous places could be mistaken for traditional American landmarks like diners, garages, and dilapidated barns.
