I photograph castels that lost their primarily role and importance. Location of the castel in reality or dreams is the same. It stands on a height or on a clearing in the woods. It is solid bild and hardly approachable residence. It gives impression of security. It`s a simbol of protection. Castel position makes him lonely in the middle of fields, woods or hills. What` s closed in it, is separated from the world, distant, so unapprochable and desirable. Castels that I photograph are not places of security or protection. My castel shells are pale shadows of once important administration, economy, policy and culture centers. Buildings on photos carry character of our time, visible in decaying plan and architectural details. In that way they are similar to modern states that are facing global crisis. Title Topographia ducatus (castels topography) is borrowed from 17. th century. In that time castels topography books were popular. Paintings of castels represented glory, power and wealth of their owners. Decaying castels for my modern topography (unpublished book) I found in Europe.
