In 2006 the LTTE aka the Tamil Tigers was preparing for their final battle against the Sri Lankan Army. Two years later, their 30 year long struggle for an independent Tamil state on Sri Lanka was over. Most of the guerrillas was either killed or captured. The future of the civil Tamil population is uncertain.
