This was a low angle inches above the boiling hot water of one of Yellowstone's iconic feature, the Grand Prismatic Pool. I was looking for a strong visual element to draw your eye to the prismatic beauty of the pool. The strong visual orange element in the picture is really an example of extremophile colonies, a mixture of bacteria and algae that live in the scalding and toxic waters that come Yellowstone's volcanic caldera.
