In 2009, drought (once again) swept through northern Kenya. The Ewaso Ng'iro river - the lifeblood for many thousands of people - stopped flowing. As the drama unfolded and the riverbed dried, rock formations, eroded smooth over thousands of years, were revealed. in the meantime, people responded, working to pump the last drops of water to parched communities.
