In the ‘Orphans’ series, I am exploring the simultaneity of reminiscence with the present. Like memory, a photographed fragment is eternalised; separated from its place in time and all that surrounded it. Without context or refreshment, memory is reductive. With age, memories channel themes that may be revisited, like stories. The gift of revisiting brings the impossibility of being reunited, not only with others, but with other moments in time, other selves and ‘truth’ as it may have been. ‘Orphans’ is a collection of three visual narratives: Freeman’s Reach, Kingsway, and Raglan Road.
