I’ve been playing capoeira for 4 years, attending classes for a few months at “Academìa Corda Bamba”, a cozy school in Lençois, an old diamond mining town in the Brazilian Sertào, state of Bahia. Built in 1989 by "mestre Cascudu”, the academìa soon became a social landmark for youth and for many lazy and sloppy children confront one to another and to report their daily time to the mestre. In “ Academìa Corda bamba” capoeira is dance, rite, fight, game, rocking motions, harmony of bodies, bodies losing their balance and never fall, bodies turning into spiders.
