Hats are a very noticeable accessory because the onlooker’s attention is first drawn to the face. I have always been attracted to hats and to people who wears them. This series of photographs reflects my interest in the historical evolution of this accessory, from a status of authority or a uniform to a contemporary art form. The images are scanned 4x5 Polaroids. I lighted the scene just with a flashlight using long exposures. The images are no digitally manipulated.
