“Flame Throwing” is a series of photographs featuring contestants in Fairmount, Indiana competing during the annual James Dean Festival in the local baseball field. Each driver supes up his car or truck to shoot the biggest, longest, best flames to achieve a win. This year the weather turned stormy. Only one female contestant entered the competition along with nine men, Melinda Hensley in her bad ass 1967 Grand Prix. The two little girls pictured here helped their father who was the official judge.
