I Started to shoot the things I love the most and started with food, Chillies to be specific. After spending 3 days on shooting them in all the ways but this one, an accident let me see into these spicy demons, the back lit way. Within minutes the shot was done. The color represents the fire within.
Surkhab Shaukin was born in Chandigarh, India and started photographing at the age of eleven. After Surkhab finished his first degree in India with honors in Geography, he went to study Photography at the Brooks Institute of Photography, Santa Barbara, California and after a year transferred out to the Rochester Institute of Technology, NY. After completing this four-year degree course in Photographic Illustration, Surkhab worked with many renowned photographers in New York City. He returned home to India thereafter and has been photographing here ever since. His work includes, but is not limited to, Travel, People, Still Life and Fine Art. He has photographed for brands like United Colors of Benetton, Sisley, Kings XI etc. He has also previously shot a book on The Western Command of the Indian Army on its 60th Anniversary and has presently finished a coffee table book on Punjab, India called â€˜Punjab: India Begins Hereâ€™.
