Tundra Pools

Upon arriving in Alaska for the first time I hired a bush plane and flew over the tundra, just to see what it was. I found shallow pools of water sitting on the surface. Pristine pools with clear bottoms, brackish pools full of leeched metals, pools formed by beaver dams. The water never gets reabsorbed into the frozen ground.
