These days’ pharmaceuticals like strong painkillers and relaxants are on their rise to dominate the drug market in 3rd world and threshold countries. The constant, easy availability, the strong effect and the very cheap price are some of the main reasons for this rise. Especially in the India of the 21st century this form of drug abuse is growing steadily, yet largely unrecognized and has lead, and still leads, to catastrophic consequences. My essay documents the lives of the people who ultimately became victims of a medicine, mass-produced to ease pain, to heal, to help people.
