These photographs were taken in Central Nigeria as the 2011 elections were taking place. I rode with the gypsies from village to village in the Niger state, trying our best to ignore the unrest and hysteria Nigeria was experiencing. We stopped for a moment at a construction site to take a break from the road, but were run off for being too close to a dynamite stockpile. I wondered if that explosion would've even been noticed with all the other bombs going off in the country. Instead of running we stopped for a picture and this series was born.
