The link between Armenia and Venice comeback to the XIII cent., when between the two countries began a trading more and more frequent. The creation of a permeated community was the consequence of these movements on routes to Far East and West. The Urbat'agirk, book on Friday, printed in Venice in 1512, was the first book ever printed in armenian language. IN 1717 the citizens of Venice gave to the armenians, leaded by the monk Mechitar, the island of ST. Lazarus, as a present for their knowledge. The monastery is still a guiding light for all armenians over the world.
