The current average age in Guatemala is 19.4 years. In addition, long term issues like migration and violence drug traffic involvement may co-relate with age demographic mortality. Considering these issues, there is no doubt that Guatemala is a troubled country with a disturbingly violent history. This does not automatically mean that it is unsafe for tourists but crime and violence are never entirely predictable. Even in touristic Antigua precautions are made during public events.
