A spontaneous shot of a bird flying over the Pyramids at Giza in Egypt at sunset.
This picture was taken exactly a year before the popular uprising in Egypt. At the time of taking it, I felt it was about the awakening of human consciousness; this beautiful bird taking flight in perfect alignment over the pyramids. When the Egyptian people woke up a year later and decided to free themselves, I realised the bird is them - their dreams of freedom, rising up and taking flight.
The shot itself was miraculous. I just happened to be positioned on a building rooftop in front of the sphinx, taking some sunset pictures and I saw the bird out of the corner of my eye, flying directly into the scene. I had just one chance to click. The resulting picture was a dream come true for me. So on every level, the picture is about our dreams, our freedom and our expanding consciousness.
