“Carol - Burns Survivor” Carol Mayer was horrifically burnt in a tragic house fire in Australia as a young mother. Over ten years on and she emotionally and bravely spoke in a newspaper feature on coping and living with her obvious injuries - and bringing up a teenage son. I made this portrait for the feature in Carols home - lit gently with the light though a window. I was captivated by the beauty of her wonderful eyes - framed by the strangely beautiful scars that surround them. It portrays Carols dignity and remarkable bravery.

Over ten years on and she has grown to live with the scars, but posed and spoke emotionally and bravely in a newspaper feature on
coping and living with her obvious injuries - and bringing up a teenage son.
I made this portrait for the feature in Carols home - lit gently with the light though a window.
I was captivated by the beauty of her wonderful eyes - framed by the strangely beautiful
scars that surround them. It portrays Carols dignity and remarkable bravery.
