While more than 22,000 people died or disappeared, the survivors were left behind on the catastrophic land. They had to breathe just to pass by the time under the cruel reality. Some of the survivors said “I do not know if I was lucky or unlucky to be survived” Who were the survivors and who were the victims? Where did the survivors and victims used to live? What have the survivors been thinking? How and when did they confront with the miserable realities?

“The Japan earthquake 2011” occurred at 14:46 on March 11. The recorded magnitude was 9.0 and the tsunami destroyed more than 200,000 houses and inundated more than 400 Sq km.
Three months had past when I visited there, and the rubbles of the huge disaster still remained. However among these rubbles, I found the signs of survivors, which also tell us the facts that there were victims. These signs gave us the clues for the answers to the questions. I photographed such signs, which stand out over rubbles. Some of the answers are still anonymous. We cannot yet identify who did it or when they built the signs. But at least we can feel the place they lived and how they were tying to interact with their reality. We can feel a part of their feeling. The signs tell us not only the tangent point of life and death, but also far more important things for us to imagine.
