Whyalla on the red-earthed Eyre peninsular of South Australia, is home to iron ore deposits, processing plants and steelworks. The rusty coloured iron ore mill and the red ore-dust, that has stained its surroundings, dominate the landscape. It is both haunting and beautiful, an alien landscape like I have never seen before: Hot and dry with stark, industrial architecture, and piles of red earth.
