Vieraalla maalla (In a foreign place) is a body of work born out of experience of cultural misunderstandings. Here, traditional Finnish customs and practices have been given a slightly odd twist. They can, however, still make sense to someone with the cultural knowledge, but to a viewer unfamiliar with the cultural heritage the images appear absurdly strange. The aim of this work is to suggest that we are all always only able to see the world from our own narrow perspective.
