The Occupy London Stock Exchange protest began on the early afternoon of 15 October 2011 outside London’s historic St Paul’s cathedral. All traffic up and down Ludgate Hill and around St Paul’s Churchyard was brought to a standstill by the assembled crowd. A striking feature of the protest was the large representation of what appear to be middle class and middle aged protesters, and families, a sign that the global economic downturn is hitting hard and radicalising levels of British society who have been silent in the past.
