The Kali(Goddess Kali) temple is very famous in Kalighat, Kolkata City, India. One main canal of the river Ganga along-with the majority waste of the city is flowing through this area which is being represented in the photograph. The water of Ganga is always sacrad to the Hindus and because of that the Hindus even consider this river water as always pure. During the visit of the Kali temple, many devotees collect this water from the canal and use it for worship the God at home.The pilgrimage also take bath in canal water with all their devotion. The ladies also pray for the long life of their husbands and worship this colored idol of 'shati'( who carried her husband's dead body to revive his life) after washing their hands in this 'holy' water.Some devotees throw coins in the canal-water to fulfill their vow. Some people also collect the coins from the river-water. Some local people use to take bath regularly and use this water for daily life.
