In the heart of the Caucasus, Georgia is independent from Moscow since 1991. Relics and remnants of the former Soviet Empire can be seen throughout the whole country. But in the last 5 years Georgia has been undergoing a relentless and global construction program, aiming at turning it into as attractive as possible for western investments, which are seen as bringing independence and safety from an ever threatening Russia. The results are often spectacular, as many of the new constructions are built exactly in the same place than the old ones, simply erasing them and strengthening the feeling of a radical facelift.
