Inspired by Arabic Calligraphy, this work explores the meditative journeys taken by the calligrapher, religious pilgrims as well as viewers. The chemical painting of paper photo developer mirrors the lyricism of the path of the ink used by master calligraphers. The A1 prints of the scans are made to be displayed in a circular formation around a central black square, to mirror the circumambulation undertaken by pilgrims during their Hajj. The artist seeks a harmony between the rhythm of the “ink“ across the canvas, the spiritual journey of meditation and the physical circuit of the exhibit that viewers engage in.
