Forever to be remembered around the world for forcing the airlines to cancel hundreds of flights in Europe, the volcano once again unleashed its fury during a second eruption that forced hundreds of Icelanders to flee their homes. The column of black smoke is formed of expelled ash and rock, while the white column is steam from the melting snow and ice that covers the volcano. After crossing a raging river with the help of a 4x4 “Bigfoot” I arrived at this location that gave me unrivalled views of the whole phenomenon.
