Medieval castles located in Polish Jurassic Highland. Polish king- Kazimierz Wielki ordered to build several dozen castles on 14th century. He fortified south boindary of Poland. You can see almost 50 ruins and rebuilded castles over a distance of 80 km today. It is extraordinary medieval architecture based on limestone. Many parts of that buildings are natural rocks. It is really interesting that 600 years old buildings was builded with mortar based on proteins of hen's eggs. Many of them is in good condition all the time. Eagles' Nests Trail (strongholds, watchtowers and castles was builded in similar to eagle's nests) has many legends and mysteries. Jura is picturesque and intriguing region through castles and amazing nature. On photos you can see castle in Ogrodzieniec, castle in Olsztyn, stronghold in Smolen and watchtower in Mirow.
