Kangia is the name of a Fjord in western Greenland, 50 kms in length, which flows into the sea Routh of Ilullissat and which was added to Unesco’s World Heritage list in 2004. The bottom of the Fjord forms the terminus of the most productive glaciar of the Northern hemisphere called the Jakobshavn Glacier ( Sermeq Kujalleq). Every day it calves seventy milion tons of ice into the Fjord, after which the icebergs float slowly towards the mouth of the Fjord. This work give food for thought in the light of the ever-growing awareness of the meltdown of Greenland’s ice sheet due to the global warning and the alarmingly fast pace at which the meltdown is taking place.
