During the day the Academia Boxe-Garrido - an open boxing gym under Alcantara-Machado viaduct in Sao Paulo - is occupied by elder people, many of them homeless, who must return to public housing shelters before evening to be admitted at all. Later in the afternoon, there is more youngsters and adult who come here to practice boxing and bodybuilding after work or school. Although some of them attempt to pursue a professional career, the majority practice the sport just for pleasure and out of a sense of belonging to the community built around the Academia.
