Wrestling sports trace back to the ritual fights for the leadership in a group and can be found in almost every culture. One of its varieties in the Indian state Karnataka is nada kusti. The main center of this sport is located in the former Karnataka's capital Mysore, whose maharajas patronized the games organized every year on the occasion of religious festival Dasara. The wrestlers trained in clubs called garadi, equipped with a characteristic gear used only in nada kusti , such as characteristically shaped stone weight, wooden bars or cudgels of different size.
