I have been interested in extending the realm of 2D images to include motion (kinetic images) as well as another (third) dimension. I stumbled across this effect (in the image) in the last few days. The idea was to merge unrelated images, one of which had an amorphous structure (to allow the unconscious a change to come into play when collaging). I was shocked to discover that the images create an illusion of depth due in part to the contrast between the stars and the black background. Original Starfield image courtesy Nasa. The third image also merges vast and micro. The onion was imaged through water drops.
