Sir John Herschel first coined “Photography” to describe the process of light writing. With the arrival of the digital age, the digital image isn’t only the process of light writing and chemical process; digital data writing has interweaved into the process of photography. 'Absent Presence' explores the usage of one such function within Adobe Photoshop, allowing photographers to inspect the availability of information within the image. This brings forth the presence of data information fundamental for the digital image and simultaneously, the absence of the photographic image; the visual (data) information becomes the representation and referent of the photographic image.
