The "castells" (known in Catalan as human towers) have been part of the identity of Catalonia for more than 200 years and have recently become one of the most important cultural tradition in the region. "Strength, balance, courage and common sense" is not only the "castells" motto but it also defines the essence of the Catalan people. In 2010, UNESCO declared the "castells" a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity. “Som Castells” (“We are human towers”) is a documentary short film that reflects the intense feelings and emotions of the "castells"' building process.
