2020 is a calendar year and represents a future that is near. 2020 shows a series of imaginative images of marine life in its mutated form, due to the negative impact of oil refinery activities. Several mutated and deformed sea creatures such as shrimps with tumours and fish without eyes have been found recently in the Gulf of Mexico, as a result of the use of chemicals such as dispersants to clean up oil spills back in 2010. The artist, who lives in a fishing village near the oil refinery development, attempts to reveal the price of unchecked development and raise awareness of the negative impact such projects can have on man and his environment.
