For the Orthodox community in Poland, Grabarka is the greatest centre of worship. Atop the Holy Mount of Grabarka, a wooden Orthodox church from the XIX century once stood until it was burned to the ground in 1990. In its place, a stone and brick temple was built. The summit of the mountain is surrounded by thousands of wooden crosses dragged to the peak by devoted pilgrims. The water from the spring became renowned for its curative values. Pilgrims are convinced that by carrying a cross up to the mountain summit and fixing it in the ground, they are fulfilling their religious vows.
