Taiwan, a sweet-potato-shaped island, is seated in west pacific ocean with 1139KM coastline. Taiwan's total land area is 35,915 square kilometers with sandy shore at west, rocky at north and magnificent cliff landscape in the east. It is nature art-work that such abundant landscape varieties are crafted on so little an island. In 16th century, Portuguese sailors amazed by view of Taiwan and jotted in a ship's log “Ilha Formosa”, meaning "Beautiful Island". Taiwan was then known as Formosa island to the west world. For the past decades, economy has reshaped Taiwan landscape. Because of lacking long-term national blueprint and the short-sighted vision of only focusing on economic growth, coast view of island has been largely changed.
