Using a large format film camera, I am able to capture minute details in the people’s face. The images are used to expose light sensitive plates. These plates are wiped with ink and run through a press, giving the imagery a look that references decomposing photographs. This process requires the wiping of a plate to expose the person’s identity, allowing me to have a physical interaction with the work. The prints are scanned and digitally enlarged to reference my interest in the preservation of my family. The work explores the impermanence of family and the inevitability of death.
