“Nurturing Time, Life in a Backyard Garden” inhabits the place where still life and landscape meet. The project’s working method bridges the usually disparate practices of documentary and staged photography to explore how we shape and control Nature even as we nurture it. The series depicts the human presence in Nature in the form of arrangements I make from plants and flowers selected from my garden, and then photograph either in the moment or at a later date. The resulting assemblages are a combination of happenstance and design that offer us the richness of the garden, and illuminate our emotional connection to it.
