Bacteria are the most abundant species on earth. They infect human cells and can turn them into cancerous cells, but they also produced the oxygene we are breathing and help us to digest. Scientists have counted >30'000 bacteria species in our colon, > 7'000 in our mouth, or > 2'000 in the inside of our elbows. Thus, a human being can be seen as an individual as well as an entire ecosystem! This submission contains highly magnified hand-colored scanning electron micrographs.
