Less than 5 km away from central Nairobi lie Dandora, the biggest dump-site in East Africa. Despite having reached it max capacity already in 2001,the open dump still receive around 2000 tons of garbage daily and covers today more than 125.000 square meters. Because of it environmental hazard to both humans and nature, the dump-site is called, The Dump-Site of Death. More than three decades of haphazard disposal, have made any plans to convert the dump-site into agricultural land out of the question.
