It’s amazing how this image so universally appeals to men. Denali National Park in the fall simply is my favorite location in the world to photograph. I love riding my mountain bike over the 89 miles of roads (no cars allowed) just looking for epic images such as this one. In this shot, I was standing on my toes looking over the willows when I saw him. I saw antlers growing out of a hole, and I knew he was huge. Just to the west, an open location evenly composed the largest mountain in North America, Denali. And in a rare occurrence, Denali was out in all its glory! After about five hours of waiting, this behemoth finally walked out of his rut hole and ambled to the exact spot I hoped. This is an image of magnitude: the largest mountain in North America with what is considered the largest bull moose in the world by park biologists. The redeeming thing in all of this may be that sometimes (though rarely) we men can appreciate something truly archival and collectible.
