New life, 20, works as a gold miner in the Southwestern Region of Ghana in Western Africa. Working 6 days a week, 10 hours a day in extreme conditions to satisfy the ever growing demand for the precious metal, New Life is a self-appointed name. From 'Sankofa' a series of portraits of the young generations of Ghanaian focusing on the relation existing between tradition and modernity. Coming from Twi, a dialect of the Akan languageĀ spoken in southern and central Ghana, Sankofa literally meansĀ to go back and get what was taken.
