Sonapur in the Hindi language, refers to a city of gold or a city of the sleeping dead. Probably the largest labour camp in the world, it houses an army of labourers; approximately 200,000 workers from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Egypt, Nepal and China live there. Without this city of labourers, Dubai could not have flourished as quickly as she did.
