|About the Artist:
The Figure in Motion
I photograph the figure in water to convey the beauty and grace of the human being in motion.
In water, surface swirls and glinting sunlight are telltale signs of motion, revealing an active, living creature of nature. By creating images that are sensual and lyrical, I encourage all viewers to enjoy and take delight in seeing the human form.
Photographing from above changes the normal perspective, so figures appear to soar, fall, dance, weave in and out of each other's paths. They become schools of fish, or falling angels, a corps de ballet, or a whole other organism comprised of multiple bodies.
Water, sunlight, and motion combine to make each photograph unique. It is always exciting to look through recently taken photographs to find the ones in which the composition, light, and motion combine in a rich and dynamic way.
My photographs appear regularly in three galleries, the New Era Gallery in Vinalhaven, Maine, the Rocky Neck Gallery in Gloucester, Massachusetts, and the Rockport Art Association in Rockport, Massachusetts.
During the past ten years my work has been shown in more than 20 group shows throughout the country, and in close to a dozen solo or featured-artist shows.
