Tondo is a district of Manila, Philippines, and one of the most densely populated areas of land in the country. It is known for being one of the poorest and most underdeveloped districts of the Philippines. Many of the city's slums are found in this area. I visited the area in 2010 and was taken by the presence of children and smiling families on the streets of this impoverished area.
Born in Brooklyn New York, Wanda picked up her first camera, a Polaroid, at the age of 12 and has been taking photos ever since. She is interested in capturing and recording the lives and conditions of others, the beauty in the mundane and the soul beneath a face. Wanda exhibits her images regularly, most recently at The Governor's Island Art Fair and The Greenpoint Gallery in Brooklyn NY.
