I grew up four blocks from the canal. It was a scary and ugly place to a young boy. While photographing the Industrial Business Zones of the city, I decided to revisit the place after a 50 year absence. I found a collision of industrial and residential, a polluted past, an uncertain future and views that are alternately, and sometimes simultaneously, ugly and beautiful.
